The IT Carlow campus is just 10 minutes walk from Carlow Town, one of Irelands largest inland towns situated on the banks of the River Barrow. Carlow is well serviced by road and rail links to major Irish cities and towns, and is approximately 80km from Dublin Airport
The Institute has recently completed a 16m development that has been tailored to ensure that its graduates are at the forefront of technological developments, both nationally and worldwide.
The focus of this new development is a Learning Resource Centre, which transforms the learning experience at IT Carlow through easy access to the world's resources for learning and research.
Overall, the Learning Resource Centre provides 1,200 student spaces and houses the Institute's library, computing and information technology facilities, TV studios and multi-media laboratories.
Modern internet communications means that there is no disadvantage to studying outside the major cities, but instead carries obvious advantages of lower accommodation costs, shorter travel times and negligible incidences of traffic congestion, pollution and crime.
The new development also incorporates a Catering Services Building, with restaurants on two floors and seating for up to 800 people.
A shopping mall and banking facilities for the Institute's students and staff completes this outstanding development and creates a modern supportive teaching and learning environment for all.
A dedicated research block and refurbishment of the original building are also planned to ensure that the entire campus is of a standard comparable with that of any university elsewhere in the world. These developments will coincide with the introduction of exciting new high technology, para-medical and postgraduate academic programmes.
Following the recent completion of a 16m campus development programme, the next phase in the Institute's planned development involves expansion of student social and recreational facilities, including enhanced medical and counseling facilities, clubs and society rooms, a bar and a swimming pool.
